It is going to be developed around Vijayawada on the banks of river Krishna.<\/p>\n<p>It may be recalled that the state had been divided by creating a new state of Telangana,\u00a0 and the state of Andhra Pradesh remained without capital for over 6 months. The existing capital of AP (Hyderabad) had been announced as the capital of Telangana.<\/p>\n<p>Vijayawada, along with Guntur, Tenali, and Mangalagiri (called VGTM) is going to form the new capital of Andhra Pradesh. The whole region is likely to be part of greater Vijayawada.<\/p>\n<p>The state is still looking at the center for implementing the promises that it had agreed to while dividing the state. Most notable among these are:<\/p>\n<p>1. Financial help in the development of new state capital<\/p>\n<p>2. Declaration of residual state of AP with Special Ss, which means that the companies enjoy tax holiday for a pre-determined period of time (about 5 to 10 years).<\/p>\n<p>3. Special package to backward districts in AP<\/p>\n<p>4. Completion of Polavaram Dam<\/p>\n<p>however, no significant funds have been allocated for so far for development of state by the Modi government so far.\u00a0 Also, the special status is still pending.
